  13. i love to write essays especially when it relates to Africa developmental issues. but one thing i will love every writer to know is that essay writing is an uncommon means to get public opion for self gain. this can be a conspiracy. i love to write the essay and i have written my own but the issue still remain mind what you write. CIA and other intelligent agency understand what africa youth can do to develop the continet. the wasted generation are moving off ans the sleeping generation are waking up. wake up and soji on time. young once shall see vision. keep your vision to your self it is the secret road to our future. your perception plz think before you write. i do not trust obj. he his a conspiracy that work for the cheif conspiracy. i am able to discern from history that America CIA will not eliminate a nation’s leader without have the successor to their side. look at it this way, obj succed Murtala. Murtala was assinated by Dimka, Dimka confession has a linkind to America CIA and British Intelligent Agency. It was this same Obj that came to power after the death of Abacha, Abacha was a western Antagonist, he never steped out of Nigeria to the Western land except France, he died and we all expect MKO Abiola to be our leader, what and Whom kill MKO ? the same OBJ came to power after the death of MKO and ABdusalam handed over to OBJ without second thougt, the same OBJ took us off the track and now Abdusalam and other generals are re-writing our history. may GOd forgive them.

Komborerai Murimba, B.Soc.Sci Undergraduate, Africa University, Zimbabwe.

  21. lets all call a spade a spade,Obasanjo is not in a position to be challenging we youths on human security, afterall he was the democratically elected president of Africa’s most populous nation for a wholo 8 years and did very little about protecting and empowering people, which is what human security entails.i will contribute my quota to Africa;s growth by writing it .i love AFRICA

  22. THIS IS AFRICA SINCE WHEN DID WE THE YOUTH HAD AN OPPORTUNITY TO VOICE OUR CONCERNS?IF ANYTHING THESE SO CALLED LEADERS OF OURS HAVE SHUNNED US AWAY FOR FEAR OF COMPETITION AND A NEW WAVE/ERA OR TRUE DEMOCRACY I WILL HOWEVER TAKE PART IN THIS ESSAY NOT TO WIN THE PRICE BUT TO SPEAK AS A TRUE YOUTH WHO WANTS THE BEST FOR OUR CONTINENT AFRICA

  26. ikpefuran beauty from babcock university is saying i love this compition because the youth are given the chances to speak out especially in the health sector.

  27. The truth about Africa’s security remain unchanged, consequent to the fact that the continent is at the mercy of the west. Never the less, i love the innitiative of the former president. I use to be one of his critiques but i must commend him for this atleast. The said “he who pays the piper dictates the tone” however in a scholarly discuss as this we must hold subjectivity to zero level.

  28. Hey Mwende, u r so pessimistic-so why r u here?for the prize money?.
And you bee jay olayeye-can u actually stand up and bring to the fore a more clearly expressed idea.i get that u hv some sort of conspiracy theory in mind,bt beyond that u r not communicating.
As for the rest of u bloggers, we’ll meet on the challenge-if not, we’ll meet in S.A 2010!

  29. am ssekikubo robert from uganda, this is a brain tickling topic. it wil have an impact on the youth, makerere university uganda

  30. It is good that African youth are eager to express their opinion. The prize monies from essays are merely additional incentives. it is important that as youth we recognise the power of a truthful and passionate voice to create viable change in out time. thanks for your contributions – keep em coming.

  31. Its obvious our leaders appear to have realised the need to integrate and mainstream the ideas of we, the youth, in their development agenda of which human security is most paramount efter having relegated us to the background for far too long. This is a great opportunity then, to prove them wrong by writing out our thought-provoking ideas to bring them to the limelight. I urge all youth to participate in it. Hope to meet more of you on the day I’ll be presented the ultimate prize. Kudos! Obasanjo, and bring your other collegues on boared for us all to find a way forword for the posterity of Africa..

    SOLOMON TANYE- University of Ghana.

  32. Africa is indeed faced by a great deal of issues when it comes to human security, however little has been done to involve the youth in such issues. We have on many occassions been left out and surpressed wherever we come up to speak about critical issues affecting our beloved continent, this is a golden platform for us to air out our views freely.Winning is part of the competition but passing on the message matters lot to me.MAKERERE UNIVERSITY,UGANDA

Am Felista, from Egerton Univerty,NTC ,Kenya.Got so excited when I came across the piece of essay on the notice boards of one of the campuses.Such a good piece of work and relevant to what is happening in Kenya: more so after the violence that erupted due to the announcement of the Dec. 2007 elections.the youth should wake up to reality and see how insecure the world has become.
    good luck.

  34. Greetings. This is surely a nice challenging topic. I am a Biology student but ever since I made the decision to take part in the competition I have learnt a lot. This has actually motivated me to take up a career that will enable me to participate in developmental issues that concern the whole of Africa. I believe we the youths of Africa are its only hope because truly most of the current leaders have failed the continent. BSc (Hons) Biological Sciences, UZ, Harare.

  36. essay writing is a noble idea especially meant for the learners. it remains a challenge to the youth in the realization of the wide issues in africa and around the world. it therefore makes us work tirelessly in search of better future. today in africa youths are very reflexive to the changes; ie what is changing?; effects of the change; changing for who?; the magnitude of change; amongst others.
