RECIPIENTS’ QUALIFICATION This scholarship is open to only African students over the age of 18. To qualify for selection, candidates must meet certain basic requirements, in addition to ensuring that entries are made not later than the specified deadline. Selection of recipients is made at the international headquarters in New York, United States, on the 31st December of each year. Selection will now be made from the first, fully completed, 6,500 entries received. Successful candidates are thereafter notified between April and May of the following year.
Strong willingness for intellectual pursuit is a necessary prerequisite. In the preceding four years, only an average of 3100 applicants was selected each year. The number is expected to increase to 5000 this year. To scale through the first screening stage, an applicant must have submitted all relevant details proving his sound academic background, and information through which verification can be made.
RECIPIENTS’ ENTITLEMENT
A recipient of this scholarship is automatically entitled to study in United States Free of tuition, throughout the duration of the chosen program. In addition, the recipient will receive an annual bursary allowance of US $7, 000 for his welfare. A recipient will also be issued a Student Visa and Resident Permit – which will expire at the end of the chosen program of maximum five (5) years.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
1. Completed Entry Form to be completed by our Representative in Countries in Africa, with their Web mail recommendation.
2. Entry Fee of US $350.00cts.
3. Five credit passes in O/level exams, including English Language, Mathematics and three
other relevant subjects (undergraduate program).
4. First degree / HND (Postgraduate program).
5. One recent color passport photo.
Hostel Information
Special low rate hostels are arranged for new visiting students in the first academic year. Detailed information and travel guidelines will be sent to successful candidates.
CLOSING DATE
Entry for the year 2008 must be received not latter than October 06, 2008. The entry form page in this website will be locked after the 6500th entry or after October 06, 2008.
ENTRY LIMIT
The limit of received entries that will be placed under consideration has now been increased from 5,500 entries to 6,500. The expected minimum of applicants that will be selected each year has also increased from 3,000 to 4,500. The number will be increased steadily until the expected target of 6,500 is reached. From past experience, lots of applicants did not send much of their entry requirements and this do contribute to the shortfalls. Henceforth, any entry that does not comply with all requirements will be invalidated within five days of application and will no longer co unt on the 6,500 limit.
Please note also that a quota system is adopted, not only to allocate certain number to each of the respective countries, but also to allocate certain number to both the undergraduate and postgraduate programs. For the postgraduate program, a minimum of 35% of its quota is reserved for candidates with first class honors. The quota may vary each year depending on the entry statistics for that year.
3. PAYMENT METHOD FOR ENTRY FEE
Payment for entry fee has also been modified. Payment is now made through a unified United Scholarship trust fund for Africa This removes the problems associated with access to credit card and postage.

TIPS TO NOTE FOR SELECTION
· In completing entry form your=2 0names should match with what is on your credentials.
· Passport size should be about 2 by 2 inches.
· Passport must have a neutral background different from shirt color, white is preferable.
· Low quality passport with poor image visibility will invalidate your entry.
· Thumbprint must be vertical not horizontal.
· Scanned copies of your credentials must contain all details of authenticity through which verification can be mad e with the certificate awarding institutions.
· Submit any other information you think will aid a faster verification of your certificates.
· Submit also a one-paged concise description of your background giving reasons why you should be considered.
· Postgraduate candidates with grade below second-class lower division need not apply.
· Candidates who already have a second degree cannot apply for postgraduate program.

It was founded as a college for Negroes and still serving a predominantly black student body. Although its undergraduate student body is drawn largely from the region, a number of graduate departments have long attracted faculty and students from all parts of the U.S. and abroad. The University=2 0has received worldwide recognition for its special library collections in a number of fields. The campus in Lubbock, the state capital includes a wide range of undergraduate, graduate and professional schools and colleges.

- CAMPUS LIFE: Administration reports issues of particular concern to students include “Authority of students to set own guidelines in extra class behavior” and “greater students” input” in university governance”. CALIFORNIA STATE UNIVERSITY
- California has the most completely developed State system of higher education in the United States. It consists of an20extensive network of 2 – year colleges, which any high school graduate in the state may enter; the state university and college system of 19 campuses, which accepts students who graduate in the top third of their high school class, and the university of California, which, at the undergraduate level, accepts high school graduates with B average and combined scores of 2, 500 on SAT and 3ACH.
- STUDENTS BODY – University does not seek a national student body, 82% of students from California; an estimated 8% of students reported as black, 5% oriental, and 21% other. University awards additional scholarship on the basis of need; non-governmental loans available to middle – income students.
UNIVERSITY OF MIAMI, Oxford, Ohio
- University of Miami is one Ohio’s network of state institutions, but unlike many state universities, it seeks to draw students from other states as well. Although out of State enrollment is limited to 30%, the size of the student body makes this a significant number. The 1, 000 acre main campus is located in a community of 25000, 35 miles North of Cincinnati and 46 miles South of Dayton. The University operates 2-year commuter campuses at Hamilton and Middletown.

- One of the very few giant Universities=2 0that has achieved both quantity and quality education, it has often been called the “Mother of State Universities”.
